Occupational Therapist says rotational programme builds skills and boosts experience

Hi, I'm Sarah, Rotational Occupational Therapist at HWHCT.

I chose to join a rotational programme because the cccupational therapy profession is so broad; occupational therapists work in many different areas, so I wanted to gain experience in different fields before deciding which area I wanted to specialise in. I believed that having experience in a variety of areas will make me stand out in job applications and interviews.

I thoroughly enjoy being on rotation as it’s a really great way to build up my personal and professional skills as an Occupational Therapist. I have been very fortunate to gain experience in so many exciting, diverse and interesting areas of the profession. Whilst I am not an “expert” in any of the fields, I have gained so many skills and so much knowledge that is easily transferable to many areas of practice.

Being on a rotational programme is a great way to boost your confidence, develop a wide variety of clinical assessment and intervention skills, working alongside lots of different teams. I thoroughly recommend working on a rotational programme.
